How to Fix Your MagicJack Problem

If you have a MagicJack, then you probably know that sometimes it just hiccups for no apparent reason. You plug it into your PC USB port and it prompts you to connect it. (But it already is connected) You may get a "Warning you must plug MagicJack to USB" error or a "the drive is not ready for use its door may be open" error.

All in all, your MagicJack is not connecting or loading up. Here is a solution that has worked for me 100% of the time in fixing my MagicJack problem. Follow the steps below:

1. Unplug the MagicJack Dongle from the USB port.

2. Delete the mjusbsp folder under: <Drive letter>:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Application Data\

3. Load Regedit and delete the following registry key entry located under the following registry key path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_YMAX&PROD_MagicJack&Rev_2.00

4.Exit the Regedit utility.

5. Plug the MagicJack Dongle back into the USB port.

Note: MagicJack should automatically reinitialize and load up normally. If it doesn’t reinitialize and work normally, download and run the UPGRADE.EXE program from MagicJack.

You can get it: http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/upgrade.exe

Here is a video that walks you through it

Lots of times phone does not ring, and a message shows up.

Also it cuts off calls when talking

You have to keep hoping you will get a dial tone.

The line is not clear.

I have the same problem. “Warning you must plug magic jack into USB port”. The solution is to format the removable disc that is associated with your Magic Jack and then after the format is completed, click on the Magic Jack icon in My Computer before closing it. Do not close My Computer and click on Magic Jack on desktop as this will cause the same problem to repeat itself. I have to reformat Magic Jack everytime I use it. Remember only click on Magic Jack icon in My Computer not on the desktop. This should solve your problem. But the real cause is a defective Magic Jack device and poor customer support.

If your magicjack wont run and blabs about format but WONT format,go to disk management on your computer(none of the usual format methods will work) ,reformat from there using right click on 18mb drive(unallocated),select new partition option, set to FAT and volume label to PHONE.
once formatted restart computer and magicjack will re program itself.Should be good as new.

Domingo Breton, “Network Error 9″ implies that your ISP is blocking access to the MagicJack servers. A possible work-a-around for this si to go to http://www.hotspotshield.com, download and run their VPN program.
