DVD Copy Hardware
DVD Copying can be easy if you have the right hardware. The primary
piece of hardware you will need is a DVD Writer (Burner). Not to be
confused with a DVD-ROM (a device that just plays a DVD).
Given the reduced cost of DVD Burners, you do well to have one
installed in your computer if you do not already have one installed.
When it comes to copying DVDs, CD Burners will not work.
The advantage of having a DVD Burner in your computer is that it will
read (play) and write (burn) both CDs and DVDs.
Thus, if you only had a DVD Burner installed in your computer, well,
that is all you need when it comes to DVD and CD copying hardware.
Again, DVD Burners will also play your DVD movies as well as run
applications on CD and DVD. It its like having a CD/RW and DVD/RW in
one device. If fact, that is exactly what is.
Make sure you have plenty of hard drive space since ripped DVD data
temporarily resides on your hard drive during the copying process.
Hard drive capacities of 40GB to 100GB are common today and this is
plenty.
I recommend 1GB of memory (more if you can afford it and your computer
has the available slots to upgrade). You can get by with less than 1GB
but the more the better and less problems you will run into.
The faster your computer processor (CPU) the better the copying
process will be. The faster processors are directly proportional to
DVD copying speed and less problems.
We personally like the Intel Core 2 Duo processors and AMD Athlon 64
X2. At any rate, if you have a decent processor, it will do nicely.
