Test Platform
We downloaded, installed, and tested CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) to run on two test computers. One computer was "Home-Brewed" with an Athlon AMD 64 X2 4800 Dual-Core processor running at 2.4GHz, 1GB of memory, 100GB hard drive, and a Sony DRU-510A DVD/RW drive 32X (CD) and 12X (DVD). The other computer, a Gateway E06500D, with an Intel Pentium(R) running at 3GHz, 1GB of memory, 100GB hard drive, and a Plextor PX-708A DVD/RW drive (40X (CD) and 12X (DVD). Installation & Test Results
The installation was flawless on both test computers. The original DVD movie was "The Chronicles of Riddick" (2003) starring Vin Diesel and the lovely Radha Mitchell. The movie run-time was 2 hours and 14 minutes. Upon inserting the original DVD movie and pressing the "Start" button, 15 minutes lapsed until we were prompted to insert blank DVD media. The DVD movie burning process was less than 10 minutes. We then inserted the copied DVD movie in our DVD player and the copy quality was that of the original to include all of the extras and menus options we selected. The same process was perform on our second test computer and it took 16 minutes to copy the movie and approximately 9 minutes to burn the movie to DVD. |
DVD neXt COPY Ultimate Copy Modes DVD Copy Project Settings
Options are available to copy the Entire DVD Disc (to include menus, languages, extras, and special features; Copy the Movie Only; Create your own Customized DVD; or, Split a DVD to fit on two discs.
After inserting our DVD, CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) automatically detected the DVD and presented us with the information displayed below. We elected to leave the default settings by copying the entire DVD to include menus, special features, and languages.

After approximately 16 minutes, CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) prompted us to insert a blank DVD.

After pressing the OK button, the burning process began immediately.

Wow! After 9 minutes, a full 2 hour and 14 minute DVD was copied. CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) ejected the DVD and presented us with the dialog box shown below.
Operation Completed!
CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) from start to finish produced a high-quality DVD in 25 minutes flat! Not bad for a movie that has a run-time of 2 hours and 14 minutes.
Pros
We really like CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) for many reasons. Firstly, the user interface was "exquiste" and well laid out. We found it very easy to navigate. The software ran without a hitch. The feature set included everything one would need for customizing the final DVD Copy product. No need to install a third-party decrypter.
CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) can convert your DVD movies into Apple iPod Video, iPhone, Sony PSP, Zune, Zen, Smart Phone, or PMP format.
Cons
Experienced playback problems with some copied DVDs. They were choppy but audio quality was good. When the same DVD movie was copied with 1Click DVD Copy Pro, the copied DVD copy play flawlessly.
Quality of Copy
The final copy was an exact replica of the original when a full bit-by-bit copy was performed. A blindfold test could not tell the difference. You really have to see and experience this for yourself to appreciate the quality of the copied DVD.
Customer/Technical Support
We emailed CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) during normal working hours just to see how quickly they would respond. Within an hour, a response was received. Their website has an excellent customer support system in place as well as an excellent forum.
Final Comments
CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) is superior product. After careful examination one will discover that this is mainly because it’s feature set. With CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios), the user has more control over the finished DVD movie product. We like CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) because it produces excellent copies of our original DVDs and we also like the control it affords over the final copy.
CloneDVD 4.3 (DVD X Studios) price tag is $69.95, however. And, well worth every penny we might add.
